New Summer School Opportunities Coming 2020

The Abbotsford School District is excited to announce some amazing learning opportunities for students.

For many years we have been one of the leaders in the province with regards to innovation and experiential learning. We are proud to announce two additional courses to our summer school offerings that will be a life-changing experience for students in our district.

In the summer of 2020, Abbotsford will be offering two summer school courses that will take the learning outside of the classroom and into the world!  We will be offering the following two courses:

Literary Studies 12 in London, England

We will lay the foundation for this course in classroom sessions for a week and then depart to London to get a hands-on experience with some of the great writers of our time.  Students will visit The Globe Theatre, see where Shakespeare debuted many of his plays, explore the birthplace of Chaucer, visit Oxford University - and much more!

Environmental Science 12 in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a place on the earth like few others, with vibrant tropical rainforests and vast marine life and ecology. Students will explore the rainforests, develop a personal plan for becoming a global citizen, and experience some of the beauty of Costa Rica - including hiking and ziplining through the trees! This course will also feature a marine studies component which can only be fully realized by spending time investigating the beaches of Costa Rica with local experts.

How can your child participate in this once in a lifetime learning opportunity?

The District is hosting TWO parent information nights in early June. Both nights are the same, so you do NOT need to attend both of them. The two nights will be:

  • June 10 at Yale Secondary, 6:00 PM
  • June 13 at W.J. Mouat Secondary, 6:00 PM

Space is limited! Interested families should confirm their attendance for the information sessions at
