Homestay Payment Service

The School District can handle students' monthly homestay payments on their behalf - we collect homestay fees at the start of the year, and make the monthly payments to the host families. If you would like this service, please indicate your request on the Application Form and Homestay Request Form. The Service Package requires that the total homestay fees, as indicated above, be paid in-full at the time of billing.  If you do NOT want this service and would like to make payments directly, simply skip this step of the application.

Medical Insurance - Included in Program Fee

Medical insurance from the Medical Services Plan of British Columbia (MSP) is mandatory for International students and coverage begins at the end of a three-month waiting period. During that three-month period, the Abbotsford School District pays for private medical coverage for international students. The BC government introduced changes to MSP as of January 1, 2017

In light of this change as well as the BC Ministry of Education recommendation for school districts to provide International students with extra medical insurance above MSP, Abbotsford School District has enrolled all International Students in additional coverage called guard.mePlusBC.

End Dates for Medical, Homestay and Custodianship

  • For students completing their studies in June, the District will cease medical coverage, District arranged homestay and District Custodianship as of June 30.
  • For students completing their studies in January, the District will cease medical coverage, District arranged homestay and District Custodianship as of January 31.

Additional Child Discount

If more than one member of your family wants to study in Canada, any additional children get a discount! The first student is charged the full tuition amount, and any additional students receive a $500 discount for the academic year, or $250 for a semester.
